Eaton and GridPoint develop EV management technology

Eaton Corporation and GridPoint, Inc., have announced an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) software licensing collaboration to deliver networking monitoring and intelligent charging applications for Eaton's electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) offering. Eaton is developing a complete line of charging stations across residential, commercial and industrial applications in North America.

The EV management technology will simplify charging by collecting, analyzing and presenting information that will support this new technology. The technology will allow utilities to gain valuable insight into charging impact, effectiveness and costs.

"The technology enables not only intelligent control and management of charging hardware, but also the rich data capture and integration capabilities critical in a rapidly evolving market," said a spokesperson for GridPoint. "It supports multiple revenue models and offers charging control capabilities for participation in demand response and other utility programs." In addition, the technology is not vendor specific and utilizes open standards.

"Our technology is built with a primary focus on secure data capture and analysis that enables utilities operations and IT teams to consume high-resolution data in any way they see fit," said the spokesperson.
